In collaboration with the John S. and James L. and Knight Foundation, the Raven Lounge, and Chamber Music Society of Detroit, RecoveryPark is currently planning the first annual Chene-Ferry Concert Series, in 2018, at the newly rehabbed Chene-Ferry Market (est. 1850)
Beginning in the warmer months of 2018, RecoveryPark will feature jazz, blues, classical and a variety of other artists to revive Poletown, Black Bottom, and Chene Street (historically of Detroit's premiere arts, and entertainment districts). Event programming will extend through September with 5 - 8 events in between.
Donations will support event and site remediation costs including sound system installation, a physical stage, lighting, and electrical outfitting.
Chene-Ferry Market will be a place for celebration and a hub where diverse backgrounds and cultures intersect. At each concert, vendor stalls in the market entryway will serve as a pop-up space to host and promote local entrepreneurs (chefs, retailers, artists). Additional programming includes place-based education, and events centered on art, culture, history, and community development.
Special thanks to: The Mission Continues, Motor City Grounds Crew, Challenge Detroit, and Summer in the City for all their hard work on the Chene Ferry Market rehab project (Summer of 2016)!
